Concrete Spaces That Need Epoxy Flooring

In our first blog, we told you all about the different types of acrylic and epoxy flooring that we handle here at Floor Skinz. We also mentioned some of the most common places that people choose to have covered in our floor coatings, but we didn’t go into much detail about each of these locations. Today we’re going to take a look at the most common places in which we find ourselves applying our epoxy floor coatings.

GARAGE FLOORS

There’s no doubt that one of the most popular places to have coatings applied is the garage. Garage floor coatings are becoming more and more popular as people spend more time out there and use it as an extension of their home. After all, lots of people like to work on cars, and if they’re into restoring cars then they probably have the garage decked with posters signs as well. Since they’re spending so much time in the garage, why not decorate the floor as well? After all, the rest of the house has carpet, wood, or tiles floors. Of course they’re looking for a way to spruce up the place they’re spending hours every night.

Of course, the epoxy coatings we put down aren’t just about looks. Sure, the chip floors look fancy, but even a clear coating can be incredibly practical. After all, garages are known for spills. The most common spill is usually oil, but there can also be spills of antifreeze, gasoline, liquid fertilizer, and weed killer. Having a concrete floor coating is an excellent way to clean up those spills without letting them seep into the concrete and smelling up the place for a month.

BASEMENTS

Another place we spend a lot of time applying our floor coatings is in the basement of homes. While the basement was once a dirt-floored single room used to store vegetables for the winter, basements of today can have multiple bedrooms, home theaters, playrooms, wet bars, and more.

Because basements have become so fancy, many homeowners would rather make it look better than simply putting down carpet. Sure, the carpet stays in the bedroom, but the pool table and wet bar areas can look so much better when they have a custom epoxy floor put in. Just take a look at some of these pictures showing examples of what we’ve done in basements with our metallic epoxy floors. They can be made slip resistant (because you don’t want to slip with a pool cue in your hand) and they are also easy to clean up (because a wet bar can be…well, wet).

Not convinced yet? Think about the possibility of flooding in your basement. Whether it’s because of a sewer backup or because the basement window broke during a storm and covered the floor with water, you won’t have to replace your epoxy floor like your would with carpet or hardwood. Not bad, eh? So when it comes to basement floor coatings, don’t just settle for gray concrete or boring old carpet. WAREHOUSES

>Some of our largest jobs are for warehouses. Sometimes these are simple jobs as a way to create watertight and easy-to-clean surfaces. After all, tire marks and grease spots from loaders are much easier to clean up from a solid surface than a porous one. These surfaces can also be made non-slip in order to increase safety. The most common type we do are clear, but that doesn’t mean that designs can’t be incorporated under the epoxy. We can put in company logos, lines to show where the “roadways” inside the warehouse are, or even glow-in-the-dark exit signs.

When it comes to epoxy, we’re here to help you get exactly what you need, whether you’re building your dream home or increasing your warehouse space. Talk to Floor Skinz to see what we can do for you!
